High school cheerleaders usually have two or more uniforms in their schools colors. For the top, sleeves and a shell is worn. The sleeves of a uniform usually only cover the top of the chest and extend out to the wrists. They are made of a spandex material so the cheerleader has mobility to do motions.

The shell is a tank top piece that can be made of a variety of materials. The motionFLEX uniforms from the brand Varsity is becoming more popular for cheer teams. This is a polyester blend that is lightweight and flexible. The shell can be worn alone on hot days, or it can be worn over the sleeves.

Spandex and a skirt are generally worn on the bottom. The skirt can also be made of different materials like the shell. White ankle socks and white cheer shoes are also usually a part of the uniform. Cheerleaders also have a multitude of bows to wear based on the uniform or game theme.
